Created by Master Perfumer Paul Parquet in 1882, the original Fougère Royale completely revolutionised the world of perfumes, not only establishing modern perfumery as it exists today but also creating an entirely new fragrance family: the Aromatic Fougere.
The composition opens with an uplifting cocktail of sparkling citrus bergamot infusing an aromatic mix of Mediterranean herbs, scintillating lavender and Moroccan chamomile oil. The evocative, yet subtle, spicy floral heart folds peppery cinnamon into the richness of geranium, rare rose essences and absolutes that linger in the a carnation enriched juice. And for the grand finale, evocatively earthy oakmoss, warm amber and sensual patchouli orchestrate to harmonise with the warm multifaceted undertones of coumarin extract tonka bean and clary sage absolute that enrich and cultivate the trail.
Pure perfume extracts indulge olfactory senses with an in excelsis distillation, each note scored in perfect harmony and cadence. In existence since the early nineteenth-century, unfiltered essences were diluted with alcohol to boost aerosol diffusion and to alleviate obstructions in the flacon’s puffer. Advances in modern perfumery have made those techniques obsolete; deposits are meticulously-filtrated after maceration. Creating complex, extracted formulas comes at a cost and only a handful of notable perfumers offer extracted essences. This esteemed craftsmanship underpins the House of Houbigant’s two-century-old legacy of innovation, distinction and authority.

How to use:
- For light intensity: spray in a cloud around your head and shoulders, let the fragrance fall gently around you.
- For medium intensity: spray in a y-shape across your body, beginning at one shoulder and finishing at the other. If you are wearing jewellery it is a great alternative to spraying your neck.
- For added intensity: apply perfume directly to your pulse points and / or hot spots (wrist, inner elbow and lower neck). Here the heat of your body will allow the fragrance to reveal its full trail. Include shoulders and back to intensify your perfume trail
Hold the fragrance approx 5 inches away and spray your skin, focusing on pulse points (neck, wrists etc) and/or spray generously in front of you and walk through for a full coverage. Don’t rub the fragrance in, as it will affect the trail.
